Community Orientation in Action: Helping Address Hunger Across LP Communities
LP Insurance recognizes organizations across the West helping neighbors access food, care and connection during Hunger Action Month.
September is Hunger Action Month, a time to recognize the work being done to help individuals and families access the food they need.
At LP Insurance Services, Community Orientation means being invested in the places our employees and clients call home. Through annual giving and employee involvement, LP supports more than 150 organizations across our footprint. Many of those organizations help meet essential needs, including providing meals and groceries to people experiencing food insecurity.
Supporting Essential Resources in Nevada
In Northern Nevada, LP supports Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, which operates St. Vincent’s Food Pantry and neighborhood food pantries in Reno and Sun Valley. Together, these programs provide fresh produce, meat, dairy products and pantry staples to individuals and families at no cost.
LP also supports Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Nevada. Its Reno house provides families with a place to stay and home-cooked meals while their children receive medical treatment nearby, helping reduce some of the financial and practical burdens families face during an already difficult time.
In Southern Nevada, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission serves a free community meal every day, in addition to providing meals for shelter guests and other essential services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Each organization serves a different population, but all understand that access to food is foundational to health, stability and hope.
Food and Fellowship in Quincy
Sometimes community support also means rolling up our sleeves.
In August, employees from LP’s Quincy office hosted the Quincy Community Supper, preparing and serving more than 100 free meals to community members.
For more than 20 years, Quincy Community Supper has brought local businesses, churches, schools and service organizations together to provide free meals twice each month. The program offers more than food. It creates a welcoming place for neighbors to gather and connect.
That combination of meeting an immediate need and strengthening community relationships reflects what Community Orientation looks like in practice.
Meeting Basic Needs in New Mexico
In Roswell, LP supports the Roswell Homeless Coalition, which provides temporary shelter, food and connections to medical and employment resources for men, women and children. By working with local partners, the organization helps meet immediate needs while connecting people with resources that can support greater stability.
Stronger Communities Start With Care
Hunger is not limited to one type of community or one set of circumstances. It can affect working families, people experiencing homelessness, families traveling for medical treatment and neighbors facing an unexpected crisis.
The organizations addressing hunger across our region know their communities and understand where support is needed most. LP is proud to contribute to their work through both time and financial support.
