LP Insurance Services Enterprise Risk Management Seminar Series Hosts “Navigating NRS Chapter 40”

RENO, Nev. – October 28, 2014 – LP Insurance Services, Inc. proudly continues its Enterprise Risk Management Seminar series, recently hosting clients and guests in Reno, Nev. The seminar, held earlier this month, covered numerous aspects of Nevada’s Revised Statute (NRS) known as Chapter 40, the construction defect law.

Attendees heard from Nevada State Senator, Ben Kieckhefer; LP Insurance Services President, Nick Rossi; long-time homebuilder, Perry Di Loreto of Di Loreto Homes of Nevada; Paul Georgeson, construction law attorney with McDonald Carano Wilson, LLP; and Matt Ennis, Risk Transfer/Legal Support at LP Insurance Services, Inc.

Guests learned the history of the Nevada statute known as Chapter 40, the home construction defect law, as well as hearing about the impact of the law today, upcoming 2016 legislative steps and most importantly, ideas and solutions to construction defect claims.

Some invitees were moved to action after attending the seminar. Alexis Hansen, Co-owner of Hansen & Sons Plumbing & Heating, Inc. in Sparks, Nev. said she really liked the emphasis on a customer service stance and plans to do everything possible to avoid action while being assertive regarding deductibles. She also added her concern around the industry providing a united consensus during the upcoming legislative session. 

Caroline Arnold, Controller for Custom Glass Distributors, Inc. in Reno, Nev., said she was also glad to hear more about the strategy for the upcoming legislative session, “As we learned last session, it is difficult to maintain momentum when the issues get muddled.” In addition, she added Custom Glass may, “re-assess the opportunity for re-entering the market,” after hearing more builders are utilizing wrap policies and learning about the added options now available in the mainstream insurance market.
